Almost every World of Warcraft players are eager to have their hands on Cataclysm. Many have been waiting for this possible last expansion. As an avid player myself, I have also been aching for this one since its press release way back in BlizzCon.
We are already midway in 2010 and it seems there has yet no light as to when would be the release of the Cataclysm patch. But then again, Blizzard hasn’t kept us in the dark about this one. More or less they are slowly inputting us information on what to expect and what changes might happen. And just recently they have a new press event that stated our major information about Cataclysm. One important thing they stressed out was about the raids and dungeons.

One thing to expect with Cataclysm is the introduction of the Grim Batol’s Bastion of Twilight as one entry level raids. In this area, there would be five bosses to defeat. The last one is named Cho’gall. He is on hard mode and once defeated can reveal another step closer to Cataclysm’s narrative. Expect also the Skywall’s Vortex Pinnacle which is a 5-mans flaying place in the Elemental Plane of Air. Unluckily, there would be no flying combat even if flying mounts will duly work in the said area.
Players who will participate in a 25 man raid will eventually have to split their raid ID into three parts. Thus they can split into a 10 man raid. But don’t worry because all three raids will somehow pick up at the same point the 25 man raid stopped. But once split, it cannot be assembled again. Do take note that even if a 10 man raid is easier as evident by the former Wrath of the Lich King, it wouldn’t be anymore when Cataclysm is here.
Another thing to expect on the next WoW update would be higher loots about 50% or more even on a 25 player raids. This will give each of its participants a quite good reward right after accomplishing it. Much more Algalon style of encounters can still be seen and might be many for both a 10 man raid and even a 25 one. Raid IDs will no longer be strict. Thus, if your raid is on dead-end, find another raid that eventually killed the same boss, you can opt to leave your ID behind and join theirs.
These are just some of the things you can duly expect and anticipate on Cataclysm. Much more there are still details that were not laid out after the press event. Nonetheless this information is something that we can munch on while waiting for the update to come. As of the moment, better perform some raids and whatnot to duly prepare you for World of Wacraft Cataclysm.
